Joseph L. Cooper, M.D. is a long time resident of Eastern NC, having trained at New Hanover Regional Medical Center (through UNC / AHEC) after graduating Medical School and Engineering School at Tulane University in New Orleans.

Dr. Cooper has always enjoyed helping the underserved populations of the area, both in rural Duplin County as well as in Raleigh. Additionally, he provides ultrasound services to several underserved county health departments in the area on a weekly basis. Among other professional activities are support of local home birth providers in Eastern NC, as well as serving as medical director for two pregnancy resource centers in the area.
